“A fine mezzo voice which is resonant, free and vibrant and she sings with great commitment and passion”

“Maria sang beautifully and communicated the text colourfully and thoughtfully”

Maria began singing at a young age and her love for music only grew when she joined the National Youth Choir of Scotland, under the training of music director Christopher Bell. This was her first experience of singing with an SATB choir. However she first sang in front of an audience aged 7, when she would get up and sing next to her Father (Rev’d David Brown 1941-2024) who was a Preacher. Maria toured Scotland singing with both the RSNO and NYCoS and later the Orkney Islands with her Father. This led her on to Music School where she studied Voice with Professor Stephen Robertson. She now works as a freelance Mezzo Soprano, enjoying a rich and varied musical career throughout the UK.
